I have been dealing with the Mega Meubles store in Gatineau since 24 Aug 09.
The service while in the store was extremely friendly and courteous. When arranging to take our money, store personnel told us that the furniture would be delivered and set up and that the garbage would be removed.
The problems started when our bedroom set that we purchased for nearly $4000.00 was delivered 29 Aug 09 ( I waited for the morning delivery until 4:15pm). I asked the driver how long it would take to set everything up and he told me he doesn't do that, there's a technician that does and we should have made an appointment. He called the store and the tech was to call us within 15 minutes. 1 hour later, the store was closed and still no call from the tech. I called the store on Sunday 30 Aug 09, and made an appointment with the tech for Tuesday, 01 Sep 09 at 3:45 pm....no show, called the store and talked to the tech. His excuse was that he called at noon, but there was no answer as I was at work. Made another appointment for 03 Sep 09 at 4:15 pm... no show again. We called the store and explained the situation and also told them we were unhappy with the state of the furniture as there were numerous cracks, obvious repairs and gouges in the 2 pieces we had opened.
After the woman on the other end of the phone (Nina) listened impatiently, she explained that the furniture would be repaired. We explained that we did not pay almost $4000 for furniture that needed to be repaired right out of the factory and that the store would replace it. The woman promised her manager would call me right away. Needless to say, the phone call never came.
I called them again 04 Sep 09 explained that due to the store's lack of response and seemingly cavalier attitude towards their customers, I wished to return the furniture for a full refund. The receptionist explained that only store credits are offered and then was told that someone would call me right away.
I paid visit to the store on 05 Sep 09, the "manager" David gave me his personal cell phone number and promised that they would replace all of the furniture by 10 Sep 09, I would be called in to the store to ensure the furniture was undamaged, and it would be delivered without further delay.
I called the store after numerous unssuccessful attempts to reach Davis in his personal cell phone, which went to the store answering machine after 5 rings. I was informed that David had gone to Montreal for the week and was unavailable. The receptionist informed me the furniture had not arrived yet.
I made numerous calls to the store, David's personal cell phone, and the technician's (Bernard) phone number, with Bernard the only one giving me any information. The furniture was finally an appointment was made to replace all of the furniture.
The furniture was replaced 01 Oct 09 but there are 2 pieces that need to be replaced as they are cracked. The garbage was not picked up as the delivery personnel stated they needed to make other deliveries and the boxes would be in their way. The technician called the store to have the delivery men return to pick up the garbage and was asked why I could not put the garbage out on the curb for the regular pick-up. The technician said he would be returning 07 Oct 09 to replace the 2 pieces of furniture that are cracked and to repair the 4 holes the delivery men made in the upstairs wall.
I called the store on 02 Oct 09 to ask why the upper part of my driveway was filled with the garbage that was supposed to have been removed. The store promised there would be a truck to pick it up later in the morning. The truck showed up at around 4:30 pm and removed the garbage.
08 Oct 09, I took a day off work to be there when the furniture and technician showed up. I called the store at 2:30 pm to ask when the technician would show up, I was informed that the replacement pieces did not arrive and I would be called when they did.
16 Oct 09, I called the store to enquire when I was to receive the replacements. The receptionist told me Nina and David were unavailable and that one of them would give me a call.
Following is the type of response you can expect from these totally unprofessional people.
ONCE AGAIN M. R**** WE WILL NEED BEST PHONENUMBERIN ORDERTO CONTACT YOU FOR THE REPAIR OF YOUR WALL. AS FOR YOUR FOOTBOARD IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED BY THEIMPORTER AND MYSELF, AND ITISIN PERFECT CONDITION. AS FORYOURDESCRIPTION OF THE SET BEING IN PLASTIC AGAIN THE SET YOU BOUGHT WAS AND STILL IS ON OUR FLOOR. YOUR WIFE SAW IT TOUCHED IT EXAMINED IT AND ORDERED IT.
THE ONLY DISCUSION WITH OUR SALES TEAM WASTHE DELIVERY DATE. MR. R**** WE STAND BY OUR PRODUCT WE HAVE ALREADY CHANGED YOUR COMPLETE SET AND NOW AFTER YOUR REQUESTED TO CHANGE THEFOOTBOARD YOU WANT TO CANCEL IT. MR R**** WE HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO SATIFY YOU AND YOU CONTINUE TO FIND EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!! LET US BE CLEAR WE HAVE YOUR FOOTBOARD.IT'S IN PERFECT CONDITION AND WE WISH TO FINISH OUR JOB WHICH YOU HAVE CONVINIENTLY TRIED TO DELAY. WE ALSO WANT TO WARN YOU NOT TO SABOTAGE YOUR SET.WE KNOW YOUR SET WAS TO YOUR SATIFACTION APART FROM THE FOOTBOARD.WE HAVE TWO EMPLOYEES THAT WILL ATTEST TO THAT!!! IF YOU CHOOSE TO SUE US AS PER YOUR DELAY WE WILL DEFEND OURSELFS.HOPEFULLY YOU WILL LET US FINISH OUR JOB, AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPY.
